tissé [adj.]
/tiˈse/ | pronounced “tee-seh”
Derived from the French language, tissé, meaning “woven” or “forged,” underscores the fundamental importance of interconnections. In its literal sense, tissé refers to the intricate process of weaving individual threads to form fabric, each strand playing a role in creating a cohesive whole. Extending far beyond textiles, tissé symbolizes the complex web of relationships that bind people, ideas, and elements together. Just as each thread contributes to the strength and beauty of woven material, the connections we build with others—whether personal or professional—shape and enrich our lives.
Our Design Aesthetic
Studio Tissé’s interior design aesthetic is grounded in clean, minimal lines, where every piece has a purpose and evokes a sense of calm and balance. Guided by a vision for the harmonious and meditative, we draw from hygge-inspired (Scandinavian) principles of comfort and coziness, and Ma-inspired (Japanese) notions of intentional space and quiet simplicity.
Our growing love for vintage and our appreciation for unique collectible pieces layer personality and history, weaving in character through carefully curated objects, artwork, and furniture that tell a story and infuse the space with individuality and timelessness.
Studio Tissé balances beauty and functionality. Shaped by a chemistry of personal inspiration, client needs, and cultural influences, our aesthetic imbues space with emotion, attends to the practical, and reflects the unique character of the people who inhabit them.

Virginie A. Nord
Founder & Principal Designer
Virginie is a French native who grew up with a love for travel and exploring new cultures, especially across Asia and Europe. Having spent over ten years living abroad, she has immersed herself in different cultures and embraced unique experiences that have become the heart of her creative inspiration. Despite her global adventures and calling Atlanta home, she always enjoys returning to her childhood home on the West Coast of France.
She found her way to interior design after working in the luxury hospitality industry, where she developed a strong eye for detail and customer experience. Stints in vibrant cities such as Beijing, Paris, and London, deepened her appreciation for cultural diversity and heritage.
After earning her interior design degree from the Inchbald School of Design in London, she honed her technical skills and aesthetic at a design firm before launching her Atlanta-based studio in 2017 (formerly A Curated Room). She also deepened her commitment to holistic design principles by studying Feng Shui, earning a silver-level certification.
Virginie’s inspiration and personal style are shaped by the beauty of nature, with its rich interplay of materials, patterns, textures, and patinas. Her deep love for Asian culture and architecture, combined with her travels, has further enriched her appreciation for craftsmanship. Virginie strives to create spaces that feel both grounded and organic, fostering connections that inspire lasting memories and meaningful relationships, while also engaging all of the senses.
